At Alva, we’re redefining what’s possible in high-performance electric motor technology.
We’re now looking for a passionate Composite and Material Engineer to join our New Technology team, where you’ll play a key role in shaping the next generation of Alva’s electric motors.
In this role, you’ll apply deep materials expertise to design, select, and validate advanced composites and polymers that meet demanding mechanical, thermal, and structural requirements. Working closely with design, manufacturing, and supplier partners, you’ll help turn new materials into scalable, production-ready solutions.
This is more than a technical role - it’s an opportunity to innovate, collaborate, and drive the evolution of composite technology at Alva. You’ll work hands-on with cutting-edge materials and methods, transforming bold ideas into tangible advances in performance and sustainability.
Select, characterize, test, and qualify materials to meet performance and reliability requirements.
Support product design team with materials expertise and contribute to early-stage design studies.
Develop and evaluate novel fibre architectures, resin systems, and multifunctional composite structures.
Collaborate with suppliers to optimize material formulations and manufacturing processes (e.g. epoxy selection, coatings, layup methods).
Validate manufacturing methods and troubleshoot material-related challenges through testing and analysis.
Prepare material qualification documents, procurement specifications, and technical reports.
Maintain and expand the technical materials library and supplier database to ensure knowledge continuity.
Degree in Materials Science/Engineering or relevant experience in resins or composites industries.
Strong understanding of composite materials—their design, processing, and performance characteristics.
Proven problem-solving ability and comfort working across disciplines and functions.
Flexible, proactive, and eager to explore beyond traditional materials engineering boundaries.
Hands-on experience with prototyping, molding, and composite manufacturing processes.
Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Norwegian is considered a plus.
Minimum relevant industry experience is 3 years
Experience with electric motor applications or advanced composites is an advantage, but not essential.
