Streaming Engineer | Allente | Oslo

We are looking for a Streaming Engineer to take ownership of our OTT streaming platform and ensure exceptional streaming quality for our customers. In this role, you will leverage advanced monitoring tools, analytics, and vendor collaboration to identify and resolve complex issues, drive platform enhancements, and develop new features. You will be at the core of our streaming operations, delivering innovation and excellence. 

What Will You Do?

• Take ownership of the OTT streaming platform, oversee outsourced CDN, origin, and encoding infrastructures.

• Use analytics and monitoring tools to measure, evaluate, and enhance streaming performance and quality of service.

• Incident Resolution - Act as a subject matter expert during critical incidents, leading root cause analysis and implementing preventive measures.

• Vendor performance - monitor and manage to ensure alignment with platform requirements, enforce SLAs, and drive continuous improvements for better service delivery.

• Partner with vendors to develop and implement new features and functionalities.

• Analyze platform performance data to develop actionable insights for continuous improvement.

• Stay ahead of streaming technology trends, driving innovations that improve platform capabilities.

• Advise management on streaming technology developments and identify opportunities for improvements and roadmap adjustments.

Who You Are:

• You have proven job experience in streaming engineering or a related field.

• You are proficient in streaming protocols like HLS and DASH and packaging standards, as well as codecs (H.264, H.265/AV1), Subtitles (TTML, WebVTT), service descriptive text (HoH) and audio.

• You have experience with CDN technologies, Origin configuration, and adaptive bitrate streaming.

• You take a data-driven approach, leveraging tools to monitor and improve platform performance (e.g., QoE/QoS metrics, real-time dashboards) as well as client analysis tools (web console, Charles proxy etc).

• You excel in problem-solving, particularly in troubleshooting complex issues and leading root cause analyses during critical incidents.

• You have strong vendor management skills and a collaborative mindset.

• You are knowledgeable about DRM solutions and streaming security best practices (preferred).

• Experience with monitoring tools like Conviva, NPAW, Kibana, or New Relic is a plus.
