Job Description - Vetting Specialist

What does the job involve?

Participating in the daily screening of tanker vessels and in the Equinor Vetting duty roster. After training and accreditation: perform objective SIRE 2.0 inspections. After training and qualification perform subjective inspections of tanker vessels, and lead inspection and field specific testing of Offshore Loading Shuttle Tankers (OLST’s). After training and certification as ISM-auditor lead Equinor’s OCIMF-based Office Audits. Evaluate and audit Ship To Ship (STS) service providers. Lead or participate in evaluation of incident, accident and root cause investigations. Represent Equinor in relevant OCIMF expert groups and Committees.

What will my tasks be?

Within this position, your key tasks will be to:

  • Screen vessels on request from the Equinor Business Units (BU’s).

  • Evaluate investigation reports.

  • Perform objective and subjective vessel inspections and field specific testing of OLST’s.

  • Perform or participate in Office Audits.

  • Formal education in Maritime studies.

  • 8+ years ship board experience with at least 60 months of actual sea time served as a certified officer with 18 months of that in a senior rank of Master, Chief Officer, Chief Engineer, 1st / 2nd Engineer on ocean-going Oil, Chemical or Gas tankers – or compliant with the valid requirements to start training to become an accredited OCIMF SIRE inspector.

  • English verbal and written communication skills.
