As a Supplier Development Specialist you will be working closely with suppliers and visit them to thoroughly understand their product and processes to drive improvements in quality, lead time, cost and delivery precision. We are in a demanding marked where improvements, quality, lead time, cost, responsiveness and flexibility are key elements. A great portion of our costs are realized outside our facilities in the Supply Chain. To maximize the business performance and meet client expectations we are expanding the global family to include critical suppliers.

You will join our Global Supply Chain Management (SCM) organisation. We are responsible for our sales & operations planning, strategic sourcing, logistic operations, supplier performance, and supply chain risk and process management. The Technical Services department is an important part of SCM. This organization oversees the following functions: SC Process & Systems management, data analytics, Supplier Quality and Supplier Development. In SCM we believe in service above all and intend to include our critical suppliers in this philosophy.

If you have a solid manufacturing background, a technical education, are process oriented and have a proactive and results oriented personality, you might be the person we are looking for in our global SCM Supplier Development department. SCM Technical services will provide training within Change Management, improvement processes, flexible manufacturing and supplier auditing.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work in a team of highly skilled specialists to identify improvement potential in our supplier base based on long term strategies.
• Assist the organization on technical issues.
• Perform Supplier audits in accordance with NOV Requirements, ISO 9001 and API Q1
• Conduct supplier audits/assessments as required to support Rig Systems’ supplier quality program
• Use a combination of Manufacturing Process Tools and data metrics to find areas of improvement in our supplier’s production processes and services.
• Develop suppliers to improve technical, quality, lead time, and cost aspects.
• Visit suppliers and work with them to thoroughly understand their product and processes.
• Educate our suppliers of NOV requirements and specifications.
• Work with suppliers to streamline processes and material flow to improve quality, productivity and efficiency.
• Contribute to cost reduction efforts internally and externally by actively seeking and implementing opportunities for reduced costs.
• Work with engineering on design for manufacturability concepts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline and/or 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (essential)
• Strong process orientation (essential)
• In depth knowledge of several of the following fields preferred: Materials, machining, welding, NDE, surface treatment, assembly, hydraulics, electric/Instrument, testing and/or quality control.
• Quality auditing certification and experience as an auditor or lead auditor is preferred
