Why Mint Innovation
At Mint Innovation, we pioneer clean technologies that recover valuable metals from complex waste streams to help restore our planet. Our proprietary low-carbon, technology recovers critical and valuable metals from printed circuit boards in electronic waste and returns them to local economies and supply chains. This technology has been commercialised in Australia, and we are now building our second facility in the United States. Our mission is to deploy a network of facilities around the world to tackle e-waste where it's produced and supply circular green metals to help support future industries. As we gear up for global impact, we are looking for a driven and passionate Chemistry Intern to join our team to help in achieving our ambitious goals.
The Role
As a company that was born in a dingy basement, everyone at Mint has a “can do, no fuss” attitude. Mint is seeking two Chemistry Interns to support our R&D teams in expanding the scope and capability of our core processes.
You will
be pursuing the next generation of product development,
through the recovery of additional metals from complex waste streams such as printed circuit boards and lithium-ion batteries, and the exploration of new feedstocks. You will assist with experimental design, hands-on lab work, and the systematic testing of hypotheses around material extraction and process optimisation.
This is a paid, full-time, fixed term internship, and will be located at our HQ in Mt Wellington, Auckland. The internships will start in mid November, ideally looking for a start date of 18 November.
These internships are an amazing opportunity for enthusiastic, curious and driven students to get hands-on experience with our brilliant teams, making real impact. The successful candidate will gain key research skills that will set them up for future scientific roles.
The ideal candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of inorganic chemistry in addition to a passion for recycling and/or green chemistry. An interest in inorganic, coordination and biological chemistry in addition to being strongly motivated by sustainability is preferable.
To be eligible for these internships, you must:
