Buller District Council is looking for an experienced Health and Safety Advisor to join our People and Capability team for a 6-month fixed term to cover Maternity Leave.

What Will You Do? | Ka aha koe?
Key responsibilities will include:

• Coordinate and promote health, safety, and wellbeing initiatives across Council.


• Support risk assessments, incident investigations, workplace inspections, and safety reporting.


• Maintain and administer health and safety systems (e.g. Damstra Vault).


• Deliver H&S inductions, coordinate training, and ensure contractor compliance.


• Provide administrative support to the Health and Safety Committee. 

Who Are You? | Ko wai koe?
We are looking for someone with:

• A relevant qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent experience).


• A solid understanding of NZ H&S legislation.


• A confident communicator with strong organisational and problem-solving skills.


• Experience using H&S platforms such as Damstra Vault (preferred but not essential).


• A proactive, collaborative approach and the ability to hit the ground running.
