Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga (HNZPT) is New Zealand's primary agency for cultural heritage protection and advocacy. Reporting to the Director Southern Region, the Manager Heritage Assets manages HNZPT staffed and unstaffed properties in Te Waipounamu including Te Whare Waiutuutu Kate Sheppard House, Fyffe House, Totara Estate, Clarks Mill, Hayes Engineering Works and Ophir Post Office.
The Manager Heritage Assets is responsible for the conservation, promotion and management of these properties, in accordance with the organisation’s strategy. This includes managing and developing business operations, enhancing visitor experiences to promote growth and diversity in our audience, delivering a repair and maintenance programme and providing motivational leadership to the Southern properties team.
The person we are seeking will be a hands-on manager and a strategic thinker with experience in operational and project management. Excellent relationship-building skills, creativity and a high level of emotional intelligence are essential. This role requires some travel.
Applicants must have an appreciation for our heritage, staff management experience and an understanding of working in a bi-cultural organisation, preferably in the heritage sector.
