Job Description - Fundraising Support Officer NZ (9 month contract)
Orange Sky is the world’s first free mobile laundry and shower service, providing support to people experiencing homelessness and hardship. Launched in Aotearoa in 2018, after beginning in Australia, our kaupapa is to connect communities by working alongside service partners and community groups to uphold the dignity and mana of whānau experiencing homelessness and hardship.
In Aotearoa, we are privileged to walk alongside whānau and communities in need, fostering genuine connections through clean clothes, warm showers, and meaningful kōrero. Our kaupapa is to break down barriers and bring people together through acts of kindness and connection. We take our work seriously but have plenty of fun along the way. We work hard and ‘get it done’ but always make time to celebrate each other’s success.
We are currently looking for a Fundraising Support Officer to assist the Fundraising and Partnerships (F&P) team in the delivery and execution of activities and campaigns across diverse fundraising streams. The role is critical in ensuring Orange Sky’s kaupapa is upheld through thoughtful, authentic and impactful fundraising practices. Key responsibilities for this role include:
Administrative Support
Prepare correspondence and communications; develop donor correspondence; assist with incoming enquiries, data cleansing and other ad hoc tasks as required.
Prepare analysis, reports and communication updates to showcase the impact of fundraising initiatives.
Assist in the management and maintenance of supporter database and systems (including Salesforce, Fundraisin and Campaign Monitor).
Support in the planning, coordinating and executing of fundraising campaigns across multiple channels.
Conduct donor/supporter research, support relationship cultivation and manage follow-ups for meetings and stakeholder engagement.
Prioritise timely, thoughtful communications and engagement to acknowledge and thank supporters, ensuring they feel valued and connected to our kaupapa.
Provide support for meetings, events and presentations.
Campaign Support
Assist in content creation and strategy, ensuring Orange Sky’s unique perspective and friends and whānau stories are authentically integrated into all fundraising communications.
Support community awareness activities.
Fundraising Execution
Track, measure, and report on progress against revenue targets, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
Respond promptly to enquiries and requests from internal and external stakeholders
Identify and implement scalable and repeatable solutions to maximise proactive and reactive fundraising and marketing opportunities.
Key Skills & Experience
Experience in a similar role within a fast-paced organisation, ideally within the not-for-profit sector.
Experience in the areas of individual giving, regular giving, community fundraising, donor acquisition, retention, and maximising donor value would be advantageous.
Ability to analyse growth and fundraising opportunities with a data-driven mindset.
Proactive and highly organised with the ability to balance multiple priorities and meet conflicting deadlines.
Strong and confident interpersonal and communication skills with the capability of building and maintaining honest relationships.
A confident speaker, skilled in phone communication and experienced in delivering community presentations and engaging with the community.
A flexible approach and willingness to work outside business hours when required.
Growth mindset with a willingness to proactively learn, problem-solve, and strive for best practices.
A fun and vibrant attitude, ready to grow professionally in a dynamic setting.
Experience with project management tools, fundraising platforms, and CRM databases, especially Salesforce.
This role is remote-based and requires a high level of self-motivation, alongside the ability to engage positively and collaboratively within our online working culture. Experience working remotely would be advantageous.
