We’re looking for an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join our team on a 6‑month+ contract or fixed‑term agreement. We’re open to candidates based in Auckland or Wellington. This is a critical role where you’ll contribute directly to the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of our financial function. Working closely with our Finance Manager, Operations team, and our offshore parent company, you’ll play a key part in delivering timely and accurate financial reporting. You’ll be stepping into an environment where you’re trusted to work autonomously, using your expertise to drive sound financial decision‑making, support operational priorities, and ensure statutory and compliance requirements are met with accuracy and confidence.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Partner with the Finance Manager on a range of accounting activities, with a strong focus on financial reporting.
Support the annual audit process and assist with preparing statutory accounts for NZ.
Oversee the month‑end close, including preparing and reviewing journals for accruals, provisions, and intercompany transactions.
Complete reconciliations between Xero and our newly implemented SAP finance system.
Ensure strong internal controls are followed across all financial processes.
Lead the balance sheet reconciliation process. Preparing and reviewing monthly reconciliations, resolving variances, and recommending improvements.
Maintain and update the Fixed Asset Register.
Proactively identify opportunities to streamline and enhance financial processes.
Assist with other ad‑hoc finance tasks as required.
What you'll bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CA (Chartered Accountant) or equivalent certification is advantageous.
Proven experience in financial accounting, financial analysis, or a similar role.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting requirements.
Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and attention‑to‑detail skills.
Ability to translate complex financial information into clear insights for stakeholders.
Proficiency with financial systems and the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
SAP experience is a bonus, not a requirement.
A proactive, adaptable mindset with the ability to perform well in a fast‑paced environment.
