About this department The Centre for Psychology at Albany is a training facility and has an

essential role in supporting the School’s clinical psychology training
programme.

Accountabilities

To provide Clinical Psychology services to clients.
Psychological Services

The Clinical Psychologist will:

  • Provide psychological assessment and interventions for clients
Serve to better enable clients to access services and enable
services to be delivered in an appropriate way
Engage in tasks related to service promotion and service
development
Liaise and consult with Supervisor/Clinic Director regularly
Attend team meetings
Contribute as required to the day-to-day running of the clinic
Contribute as required to the organisation and running of group
interventions
Engage in research activities related to the service as required
Undertake administrative duties associated with the Service
activities as directed by the Clinic Director, including the
maintenance of professional and administrative records; the
production of psychological reports and letters to referral
agencies; and serving on appropriate committees.
  • Undertake such other clinical and professional development
General activities as directed by the Cancer and Health Services

Coordinator, the Clinic Director or the Head of School.

  • Provide a model of good practice for trainees and interns
  • Maintain an Annual Practicing Certificate as a professional
psychologist
  • Co-operate within the School and share School objectives to
advance the knowledge and practice of Psychology
  • Comply with the University's obligation under its Charter regarding
the Treaty of Waitangi

Qualifications and Experience

  • The appointee must have a DClinPsych, PGDipClinPsych, or
Qualifications: equivalent Clinical Psychology qualification.
  • Registration as a Clinical Psychologist with the Psychologists’
Board
  • Have appropriate relevant practical experience in working
Experience: with clients.
  • Experience in working with trauma preferred
  • Experience in supervision or training of students preferred
  • Knowledge of tikanga Māori and Māori models of health
preferred, and a willingness to engage in the development of
skills to enhance the goals of Massey being a Te Tiriti led
university.

  • Hold a current NZ driver’s licence

Pre-employment checks

Essential A safety check in accordance with the Vulnerable Children Act 2014 and
the Vulnerable Children (Requirements for Safety Checks of Children’s

Workers) Regulations 2015 is required. Part of this process includes a
requirement to pass the police vetting part of the safety check.
