Job Description - Clubs' Coordinator

Join our vibrant university community and make a difference to student life! We are seeking a dynamic and organised individual to join our team as a Clubs' Coordinator. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating various clubs within our Massey University Manawatū campus, ensuring smooth operations and engaging experiences for students.

Who are we?

Te Tira Ahu Pae is the students’ association for Massey University. We represent and provide services to all Massey tauira (students), whether they study domestically or internationally, by distance or from one of the three physical campuses at Ōtehā – Albany, Manawatū – Palmerston North, Pukeahu – Wellington and Pāmamao - Distance. Te Tira Ahu Pae are dedicated to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where every tauira can thrive.

About the role - you will never be bored!

This position is based on our Manawatū campus where we have more than 50 student clubs operating. Our clubs cover academic, cultural, social, and sports interests with a mix of long-standing established clubs and new ones starting to meet current students’ passions. Our clubs are student-led, and this is a community building role where your job is to support the growth and development of clubs for Massey University students. If you have excellent communication skills, the skills to build community, and strong administration skills, we invite you to join our team of three Clubs’ Coordinators.

Why this role is important:

There is more to attending uni than studying and getting that qualification. Clubs are part of the wider holistic university experience providing connection and belonging. Lifelong friendships and memories can be made through clubs. Students who participate in university clubs feel more connected to the university community, meet other students, and experience a sense of belonging. As the Clubs' Coordinator, you will play a key role in fostering this sense of community and belonging among Massey tauira.

What you need:

  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in community development or club administration.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • High level of cross-cultural and interpersonal communication skills with Te Tiriti led practice.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise effectively.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Creative thinking.
  • Previous experience in coordinating clubs or events is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience using social media platforms for promotional purposes.

What you will do:

  • Strengthen the club network to enhance the overall student experience.
  • Support clubs through the affiliation process with Te Tira Ahu Pae.
  • Coordination of campus-wide events and initiatives involving student clubs, e.g., Clubs’ Day.
  • Administration of club grant applications to enable clubs to meet their goals and enhance campus life.
  • Ensuring that accurate records related to club activities, grants, and membership are kept.
  • Provision of ongoing support and resources to clubs, including workshops, event planning assistance, and networking opportunities that foster a sense of community.
  • Proactive engagement with students to ensure that clubs are relevant to the current student population.
  • Working in partnership with the wider Clubs’ team and participation in development of clubs’ related policies and procedures.
