Job Description - Connectivity Engineer

Te Ratonga Tautoko Hangarau | Digital Services

Located in Ōtautahi | Christchurch, Aotearoa | New Zealand

  • Full-time 37.5 hours per week (1.0 FTE)
  • Two year fixed-term position

Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
The role of the Connectivity Engineer is to design, implement and maintain connectivity services across the University of Canterbury.

The role is responsible for meeting the Universities' availability, reliability, performance, and security requirements. Central to the role's success is the provision of expert guidance and support enabling the successful operation of university connectivity infrastructure.

On a daily basis you will be working to provide the university with an available, reliable and secure network. You will be the go-to person for advice, guidance and solutioning network related problems and requests.

Mōu | Who You Are
You are a professional with experience in various aspects of networking. To thrive in this role, you will have:

  • Significant experience with Enterprise Networking with Juniper, Aruba, Cisco equipment.
  • Significant experience with Enterprise Wireless Networking and Cloud Networking.
  • Strong network security skills, ensuring the safety of data and systems.
  • An in-depth knowledge of routing and switching, network automation, scripting, and firewall management.

You enjoy troubleshooting and creative problem-solving. Your documentation skills are excellent and you're also familiar with Linux, making you a well-rounded and asset to any networking team.

You work efficiently alone and as a team, even under pressure. If you enjoy learning, you will thrive in this role.
