Job Description - Data Center IT Support Engineer

DESCRIPTION

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion. This is a unique opportunity to join AWS as a Data Centre Technician in Auckland. You will become the senior resolver for your support team and able to troubleshoot and solve complex infrastructure issues. You will help create and maintain documentation on the technologies you support and be the primary escalation point for junior staff. You know how to innovate and make decisions on your own, but also know how to take direction when it is given, paying attention to all details involved. Key job responsibilities
- Maintain a high level of system (Server/Network) reliability by prioritising and resolving trouble tickets efficiently
- Share knowledge and help educate less technical staff on the best practices in Data Center Operations
- Be a technical escalation point for other team members
- Participate in and deliver on high impact projects
- Contribute to, and improve on operational efficiency About the team

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of server hardware management, network management and troubleshooting experience
- Experience with Network Hardware: Copper and Optical Fiber Cabling, Switches, Routers
- Experience with storage subsystems
- Strong Linux administration knowledge and experience.
