Kia ora! Are you looking  for part-time mahi that will make a big difference? 

I am a freelance writer  and disabled community advocate looking for someone to join my small crew of disability support workers as soon as possible. 

My disability support crew provide a range of supports for me from intimate personal care to support with organisation and transport.  The crew work with me at  home and in my community  and are a valued and integral part of making sure my busy creative life run smoothly. I need folks who can quickly learn my   daily routine but also help me navigate access challenges that come up in new situations and environments I move in.

The shifts: 

The key shifts I'm looking for are: 

Wednesday morning: 7.00-9-00am (usually fixed) 

Wednesday afternoon: 4-5.30pm (some flexibility required) 

Thursday morning: 7.30-9.30 am (usually fixed) 

Thursday afternoon: 4-5.30pm (some flexibility required) 

Friday afternoon: 4-5.30pm (some flexibility required)

Saturday afternoon: 4-5.30 pm (some flexibility required) 

Sunday morning: 8.30-10.30 am (usually fixed) 

Sunday afternoon: 4-5.30 pm (some flexibility required) 

This role is a guaranteed 13.5 hours per week but there will often be the ability to take on additional hours when I require extra support or to cover for other team members. Hours have potential to increase. 

Tasks include but are not limited to: 

• Showering, dressing and intimate personal care 
• Household tasks like cleaning and tidying in my room and shared spaces, dishes and laundry 
• Food preparation 
• Pet care 
• Driving me to and from events or helping with journey planning
• Administrative support managing time keeping, diary and booking travel  
• Being in the background to support at events, meetings or social situations. 

You will be:  

• Able to work respectfully in a private home with a queer-disabled person 
• Organised,  reliable and committed 
• Flexible 
• Able to adapt and problem solve
• A good listener and clear communicator 
• Comfortable new situations 
• Body positive  

You will have: 

• NZ working rights 
• A full clean driver's licence (I have a vehicle you will need to drive me in from time to time)
• Competency with Google Drive and Word processing 
• Administrative and organisation skills 
• Some prior disability support experience or willingness to learn. 
• Experience in arts environments and social justice work  is an advantage as these are my areas of work and the kinds of interesting environments you'll work with me in.
