An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Inventory Administrator to join our newly established Distribution Centre within our National Supply Chain.
Mō te tūranga - About the role
This is a newly established role and will allow the successful applicant to make the role their own. The Inventory Administrator is responsible for overseeing the organisation's inventory processes, ensuring accurate tracking, efficient storage, and timely replenishment of stock. This role involves managing inventory databases, coordinating with suppliers, and collaborating with other departments who optimise inventory levels and minimise cost.
This is a crucial role in maintaining seamless operations and customer satisfaction through effective inventory management practices.
Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Monitor and maintain all inventory data in accordance with inventory policies and processes
- Place orders for replenishing stock based on demand forecast and inventory levels (min max planning), avoiding stock outs and minimising excess inventory
- Collaborate with vendors to ensure timely delivery of goods and resolve any issues related to orders and shipments
- Assist the Warehouse Team Lead and Clinical Product Coordinators with the implementation of new products, alternatives and recalls
- Support and promote best practice for inventory management, assessing opportunities for stock rotation and improvements, including cycle counting, location and barcode maintenance
- Collaborate with hospital coordinators, logistics and finance teams to align inventory management with business objectives and ensure cross-functional communication and support.
- Proactively identify areas for process improvement, automation, or cost saving opportunities within the inventory management function
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies regarding inventory management, including safety standards and quality control measures
Mōu ake - About you
We are looking for someone who has previous experience in an inventory administrative role preferably in healthcare.
Our ideal candidate will have the following:
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with customers and colleagues
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail to manage all enquiries and requests efficiently
- The ability to multitask and prioritise in a fast paced, dynamic work environment
- Problem solving skills with the ability to think quickly and adapt to changing environments
- A positive attitude and willingness to collaborate with multiple teams to achieve common goals and a good team player
- Experience with inventory management and or warehouse management systems
- Strong understanding of the inventory principles of setting stock levels (min/max), forecasting and inventory control including electronic processing of products
- Experience and knowledge of barcode or RFID systems and the ability to adapt to new inventory management technologies
- Proficiency in inventory managed systems, Microsoft office suite and other relevant software applications
- Knowledge and/or understanding of medical products, temperature controlled and or special storage requirements
- Knowledge of purchasing and purchasing functions

Utu whānui - Salary range
This role is covered by the terms and conditions of the PSA South Island Clerical Multi-Employer Collective Agreement and the salary will be in accordance with the National Health Administration Workers Pay Scale, Band 4 between Step 1 $70,970 and Step 3 $73,941 p.a. pro rata dependant on relevant experience.
