Job Description - Mechanic - diesel

Allens United Waikato is a busy Liquid Waste Collection, Processing & Hydro Excavation company based in Hamilton, operating in the Waikato since 1986. Our clients range from Local Authorities, Hospitality & Industrial Trade Waste Customers, Civil Construction Contractors, Private Residential Home owners and Local Farmers who require a variety of different services to assist with their liquid waste needs. A position has become available for a full-time Diesel Mechanic (preferred with some Engineering skills) within our onsite workshop to assist our team stay on the road with the day to day maintenance and repairs of our purpose built fleet of Suction Trucks, Hydro Excavation Units and Water Trucks. Our Units have been built in our workshop, tailored to our specific work needs and ground conditions that we encounter here in the Waikato. A Engineering and/or Welding background would be advantageous within the role to complement your mechanical skills. Work will include, general wear & tear maintenance on vehicles, repairs & servicing of pumps & equipment which operates our hydro excavation & suction units. Basic general engineering activities, COF checks and repairs, call outs to site during the day if required and everything else in between to keep our fleet on the road. This role also has variety to get out of the workshop to help out in the yard, processing and watching out on our Wastewater Plant. Our mechanics also can go out with our operators to assist from time to time in the field. This gives a change of scenery and a chance to see how the gear is operating on site. Opportunity to gain your Class 4 licence is also available if you haven't already got this making you flexible to take trucks to testing stations for COF's or to go out and work with the guys when needed. So, if you are after a change and have loads of 'get up and go' to join our team, we would love to hear from you. Our business is built on solid work experiences so we are not hung up on mechanical qualifications (although a qualified mechanic is preferred it certainly is not the be all and end all, a minimum of 3 years experience on the tools is preferred). You must have the ability to look at a problem with fresh eyes, look for the problem with simplicity first and be a problem solver. Remuneration is based on what you can offer us and bring to the role (approx. $35 - $45 per hour gross, dependent on skills and experience) with approx. 47.5hrs per week (Monday to Friday). A Work Ute is available as part of the remuneration package along with a work phone. All enquires will be treated in confidence. See our website at for more information on what we do on a day to day basis. Please email or phone / ** Note: This role is not accredited for overseas applicants at this stage
