About us

Purapura Whetu is a Maori health and social service provider committed to improving tangata whaiora and their whānau wellbeing. Guided by the Kawa of Purapura Whetu and Te Tiriti o Waitangi we ensure safe and professional practice, through clinical, cultural, and community support across our services to enhance the mana of our whānau.

The role

We are actively seeking a Team Lead to support our Muslim Wellbeing Otautahi team in delivering a range of services to diverse communities within our Muslim community.

The position would suit an experienced person who is a strong team player with leadership and operations experience. The person should possess a good level of management skills in health and or social services with a range of skills and qualities that includes:

• Being a natural and inspirational leader, who leads by example and demonstrates integrity with the proven ability to face hard decisions with confidence.
• Exude enthusiasm and passion for the work you do that inspires and motivates your team to succeed and feel valued.
• Awareness of Te Ao Māori at a basic level in workplace communications or a strong willingness to learn.
• Possess a good understanding of an Islamic world view and principles that underscore health and wellness in Islam and within a NZ context.
• Ability to implement system and processes for assessment, intervention and risk management. Effectively manage team processes, culture and wellbeing
• Effectively distribute information to your team and stakeholders with the ability to communicate with a wide range of people, lead meetings, maintain good documentation and plans.
• Possess a good understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how it applies to Purapura Whetu delivery of safe, fair practice.
• A good understanding of religious, ethnic, cultural backgrounds is essential.
