We are seeking a team manager for our Op Shop.

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Opportunity Shop Manager to build a stable, strong revenue base with the goal of enabling our community connection and mission work within the communities of Auckland … ‘where faith inspires life’.   

The role of the Manager is co-ordinate, build up and promote the Opportunity Shop and lift utilisation, clientele and revenues. The focus is to develop a volunteer core team of similarly service-minded and faith-based individuals. 

Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for developing relationships, partnerships and synergies, promoting and marketing the Op Shop to the local community to ensure its growth and success.

About the role:

  1. Market Research to identify potential development options and develop effective market strategies.
  2. Build and Maintain Relationships by developing the volunteer staff pool, engaging with community groups and clients, and fostering positive connections within the local area. Establish strong relationships with local businesses, community leaders, church staff and organizations.
  3. Collaborate with the marketing resources to develop compelling ideas and marketing materials to creatively showcase the opportunity shop. Utilize various promotional channels, such as social media, websites, and local publications, and create engaging marketing materials to showcase the opportunity shop.
  4. Ensure the facility meets health & safety and compliance obligations and provides a safe environments for clients and volunteers
  5. Provide administration and supervision through preparation of rosters and staffing cover and stock preparation. Coordinate partner and stock relationship including refugee provisions, trade me sales and rag suppliers
  6. Provide revenue monitoring  to evaluate the effectiveness of promotional strategies and prepare leadership reports detailing performance and providing improvement insights.

Your required experience will include:     

  • Not for profit, common good, community or faith-based roles
  • Lead, recruit and manage staff or volunteers
  • Daily operations management, ideally in retail.

Valued additional experience may include any of the following:

  • Social media promotion
  • Community or business development
  • Event coordination
  • Marketing or Communication.

Your Skills and Attributes will include:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships with diverse stakeholders 
  • Managing budgets and revenue goals
  • Passion for sustainability and thrifting, exploring and promoting environmental responses
  • Sympathetic to the Christian faith
  • Ability to meet new people and provide a welcoming presence.

The key stakeholders you will work with include our volunteer team, the shop clients, donors and supporting organisations. You will be supported by our Ministers and leadership team, the office staff and congregation and report to our administration committee chair.
