Qualified Anaesthetic Technician/ODP/RNAA's

• Grow and develop your skillset and work to the full scope of practice
• Registration with the New Zealand Medical Sciences Council with a current practicing certificate (or ability to obtain) is essential

Mō te tūnga | About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Anaesthetic Technician/ODP/RNAA to join our dedicated team who will have a focus on Cardiothoracic surgeries whilst maintaining your skills in all specialties. This unmissable role will give you the opportunity to work to the top of your scope in the biggest Cardiothoracic centre in the South Island. This means you will be working alongside some of the regions most experienced consultants covering specialised and diverse cases including Cath Lab and acute procedures. 

You will work closely in a team of 5 to cover all cardiac and thoracic needs within the department. Your cardiothoracic days and oncall commitments will be spaced across the 5 weeks base roster. When you are not in cardiothoracics your skills and expertise will be utilised in other areas and specialities throughout the department. You will also be part of a small group of cell saver technicians and utilised throughout the department in complex cases.

Ko wai koe | About You; 

In this role, you will be responsible for:

• Provide professional, technical and clinical assistance to Anaesthetists;
• Provide safe administration of anaesthesia to patients;
• Anticipate problems and exceptional patient care;
• Co-ordinate documentation to ensure the patient receives effective care;
• Mentoring trainee Anaesthetic Technicians/ RNAA's

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and Experience

• A recognised qualification within New Zealand or international equivalent;
• Registration with the Medical Sciences Council or eligibility to obtain;
• Strong interpersonal skills;
• Interest/Experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery with the desire to grow this skillset;
• Motivated to embrace challenges and change.
