The opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi

We are seeking to appoint a Building Services Technician as part of the Facilities Management team. The role's primary responsibility is to manage the Building Management System (BMS), which controls HVAC and lighting across multiple campuses—providing and assisting with diagnosis and technical support to staff and contractors to provide students and staff a safe, comfortable, and lit campus. The role includes.

  • Use of BMS to manage plant and equipment to ensure optimal operations of building and plant.
  • Carry out a wide range of investigation and remedial duties in a complex environment while meeting the requirements of a diverse range of internal and external customers.
  • Work with Trade Staff and Contractors to resolve issues directly impacting the operational status of the building and plant.
  • Provide administrative support for emergency lighting, room bookings, contractor performance, compliance requirements, and Permit-to-work applications.
  • Locating detailed information to support accurate and efficient plant maintenance and upgrade activities.
  • Preparing and initiating research and investigation activities, including those required to be carried out after hours.
  • Assist in ensuring the University meets the compliance requirements of the installed systems.

This is a full time, permanent position (40 hours per week) Salary Band: $68,600 - $84,700 pro rata, dependent upon skills and experience.

The successful person should thrive in a fast-paced environment and ideally have experience in building management and maintenance management systems. We would like to hear from you if you are a highly organised and adaptable person with proven experience working in large complex building environments.

  • Understanding of Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • Be committed to excellent quality and have a sharp eye for detail.
  • Have excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to engage positively and proactively with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Be a team player with strong relationship skills who enjoys working with others in a collaborative environment.
  • Be highly motivated, self-managing and exceptionally well organised. You will have vital planning and coordination skills and can juggle multiple priorities.

Qualifications

  • Trade certificate or tertiary qualification in electrical or mechanical fields.
