Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
We are currently looking for an experienced Technician to join our team on a 12 month fixed term contract.
This role will contribute to a research program that aims to understand the causes and mechanisms of Motor Neuron Disease. You will be responsible for research support including experimentation, training, and administration.

Mō tō mātou rōpū | About the team At Te Kura Mātauranga Koiora | the School of Biological Sciences, teach and conduct research across all scales of the living world, from molecules to ecosystems. Modern biology is also interdisciplinary, and embraces other STEM disciplines, including chemistry, mathematics, statistics and computer science. The Faculty of Science’s Technical Services Team comprises over 100 technical staff providing specialist support to the Faculty’s academic staff and students across 9 of the 10 Departments. They contribute technical knowledge and expertise to research and teaching activities while ensuring the ongoing operation and compliance of a vast range of laboratories, workshops, teaching facilities and research equipment.
He kōrero mōu | About you
Our ideal candidate will have a BSc (Hons) or MSc (or equivalent) in Biomedical Science, Biological Science, Pharmacology or Physiology and have relevant laboratory experience.
You will be required to have excellent technical skills and thorough working knowledge in either mammalian cell culture and/ or immunohistochemistry and related techniques, as well as laboratory management.
