Job Description - Warehouse team leader

Dunedin

  • Salary between $80,026 and $84,491 per annum
  • Monday to Friday
  • Permanent, full-time 1.0 FTE position (40 hours per week)

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Warehouse Team Leader to make their mark and lead our newly established Distribution Centre as part of our National Supply Chain.

Mō te tūranga - About the role

This role will oversee warehouse operations while training and mentoring warehouse staff to develop their skills and capabilities by fostering a culture of continuous learning and development. Although this role is located in Dunedin you will be connected with our supportive Warehouse Team Leaders across the country. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to travel to other regions to work alongside and learn from other Warehouse Team Leaders.

You will be responsible for managing service levels, relationships, adherence to National policies and operationally overseeing all aspects of service delivery, replenishment and ongoing improvement of stock management, systems, processes, and costs.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Coordinating daily warehouse operations, including receiving, storing, picking, packing and distribution of all goods
  • Leading and motivating all warehouse staff including administrative team to ensure proficiency and productivity following safety guidelines and procedures
  • Training employees on warehouse procedures and equipment following all guidelines
  • Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe environment
  • Promoting compliance with health and safety
  • Collaborating with all departments to optimise warehouse operations and meet department and organisational goals
  • Oversee inventory management processes, including cycle counts, stock replenishment and inventory accuracy
  • Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the warehouse and distribution operations

Mōu ake - About you

We are looking for someone who has at least three years' experience in a leadership/supervisory role leading direct reports.

Our ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Proven relationship building techniques
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Previous experience in a warehouse and or inventory managed operation
  • Experience implementing and maintaining quality control measures to ensure accuracy and consistency in warehouse processes
  • Proficiency in using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and relevant software
  • Familiarity with key performance indicators (KPIs) for warehouse operations and experience in tracking and analysing metrics to drive improvements
  • The ability to collaborate effectively with cross functional teams to optimise warehouse operations and achieve organisational goals
  • Knowledge of inventory management best practices
  • Extensive knowledge of health and safety regulations with a commitment to ensuring a safe working environment
  • Knowledge of risks surrounding hazardous substances and dangerous goods
  • Sound knowledge of MS Office Suite including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines

Utu whānui - Salary range

This role is covered by the terms and conditions of the PSA South Island Clerical Multi-Employer Collective Agreement and the salary will be in accordance with the National Health Administration Workers Pay Scale, Band 7 between Step 1 $80,026 and Step 3 $84,491 p.a. pro rata dependant on relevant experience.
