Job Description - Data Center Operations Manager

DESCRIPTION

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help. This Data Center Operations Manager is to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team. We are looking for a people manager who can collaborate, lead and mentor a team of skilled Data Center Technicians with a variety of skills. You will be responsible for Data Center operations with a focus on continuous improvement to ensure we continue to deliver the highest level of service to our customers. As a successful applicant, you will get to manage the World’s largest Computing Infrastructure. Every day you will innovate and help us solve exciting, challenging & complex problems while driving for operational excellence in all areas of your role. Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Managing and developing teams of efficient Data Center Technicians, providing both technical and leadership expertise and ensuring the highest levels of performance.
- Maintaining existing co-located and in-house Data Centers.
- Help build and bring new Data Centers to New Zealand
- Constantly improving all our processes and procedures. (We believe there is nothing we cannot improve).
- Assisting & managing relationships with external vendors & contractors.
- Ensuring we adhere to and exceed local Health & Safety standards in all our Data Centers.
- Creating and maintaining metrics of all aspects of our Data Centers and utilising those metrics to drive positive improvements.
- Assisting in implementing service methodologies that include incident management, problem management, change management, capacity management. About the team

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 4+ years people management experience with direct reports in an IT related field
- 4+ years experience in managing IT systems
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of change concepts, problem and incident management
- Financial acumen in annual budgeting, Capex and Opex
