Job Description - Senior Application Specialist

Our Continuous Computing Practice provides specialist platform, infrastructure, network, cloud and software services to our customers. Our Support team play an important, and highly valued role in our success by providing exceptional IT Support services to Theta's customers and staff alike.

We are now seeking an Application Specialist to provide Level 3 support to external and internal customers, work with our Application Support team to provide an excellent customer experience and to provide technical guidance to team members. You will also provide application and systems support across a range of platforms and technologies and undertake project tasks and requests and conduct problem analysis and provide recommendations.

In this role, excellent customer service is a must! You will also possess strong communication and interpersonal skills and have experience providing Level 3 Application support, dealing directly with customers, and working in a multi-vendor environment.

This role requires flexibility to be rostered on-call.

Skills and experience | Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako

Key technical skills and experience including components of:

  • 6+ years supporting applications and enterprise customer environments
  • Experience with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle and other databases including the respective procedural languages (PGSQL or PL/SQL)
  • Experience with system integration, data analytics, web services
  • Data warehousing and ETL tools (SSIS, Azure Synapse Analytics, Snowflake)
  • Strong scripting skills
  • Cloud experience (AWS or Azure) desirable
  • A solid understanding of SDLC concepts and processes
  • Exposure to ITIL best practices

Nice to have

  • Exposure to IaC (Infrastructure as Code)
  • Exposure to reporting tools such as Cognos or PowerBI
  • Experience with applications running on Unix/Linux.
  • Experience with Oracle EBS.
  • Prior consulting experience.
