Senior technician - textiles

Senior Carding Technician Godfrey Hirst is the leading carpet manufacturer for Australasia. Here in NZ, we predominantly work with wool in our three spinning sites. At Lower Hutt we have a large Carding operation, and we require the services of a Senior Carding Technician. In this varied permanent day shift role at our Lower Hutt site, we seek someone with operational experience to assist with resolving breakdowns, planned maintenance of Woollen Cards or similar. A Woollen Carding Technician must have: • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of carding machinery, swifts, and associated processes. • Maintenance Skills: Ability to configure, monitor, and maintain carding machines. • Attention to Detail: Ensuring the quality of the carded wool. • Safety Awareness: Adherence to safety protocols while operating machinery. • Teamwork: Collaborating with other team members in the production process. Qualifications: Some qualifications related to carding in the textiles manufacturing sector an advantage, e.g. National Diploma in Textiles Manufacture (Carding Technician). This is a senior position requiring strong technical and problem-solving ability, ideally with Trade Certificate (level 4) or Advanced Trade Certificate in Carding or other engineering fields. The successful applicant will possess experience in and a passion for: • Workplace safety • Coordinating with a production department to maximise equipment efficiency and minimise down time. • Able to diagnose machine faults. • Ability to work to deadlines and understand priorities • Preventative maintenance programmes • Clear communicator Our plant operates 24/5 Monday – Friday. Our ideal candidate will have the ability to work through problems and provide solutions working within the engineering and production team. So, other than a negotiated remuneration package, this vacancy gives the opportunity for the successful applicant to work in excellent conditions with a great crew in Lower Hutt.
