Job Description

About the organisation

For 25 years, Te Whare Korowai has been a steadfast pillar of support for homeless adults in Hamilton. Our client embarked on a journey of evolution, constantly adapting to meet the evolving demands for services and support.

Te Whare Korowai Taangata o Kirikiriroa provides safe emergency and transitional housing and support to homeless single adults. Their guests have complex needs, are of a wide range of ethnicities and have varied life experiences. Te Whare Korowai guests can be some of the most vulnerable adults in Aotearoa who have witnessed and/or experienced horrific trauma and therefore they struggle to find their ‘fit’ in a society that does not make sense to them.

Te Whare Korowai offer an array of services to their guests including social work support, mental health, and well-being/addictions support, Kaiarahi Pou Tikanga (to assist with whanau and Te Ao Māori linkages) and housing navigation services to help their guests find a new home.

About the role

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will inspire the service team to realise Te Whare Korowai’s mission and vision. The vision and mission are to provide safe accommodation with appropriate support for people of Kirikiriroa experiencing homelessness through raising awareness of and advocating for people experiencing homelessness in Aotearoa.

This includes:

  • People leadership of 3 passionate team members.
  • Service delivery and guest experience.
  • Stakeholder relationships and community presence.
  • Operational planning and execution.
  • Team compliance, risk, and reporting.
  • Health, safety, and wellbeing.

About you

Te Whare Korowai are looking for a confident and competent individual to commit themselves to a highly challenging and complex environment. You will offer the following experience to the organisation as the Service Delivery Manager:

  • A health-related degree and relevant work experience in the public health system.
  • At least 5 years of experience working in the mental health and addiction sector.
  • Service leadership experience within a similar environment.
  • Competent in Te Ao Māori and Tikanga.
  • Experience working in or alongside local government organisations.
  • Consultative and collaborative leadership style, bringing a holistic approach to the workplace.
  • Strong relationship management skills - able to foster positive and productive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • High level of emotional intelligence, with an ethical compass to provide a balance of openness and privacy for the guests.
  • Systematic operational thinker and planner who likes to take an outcomes-focused approach.
  • Can turn ideas and plans into action.

Due to the nature of the role and environment you will be working in, you must be able to take after-hours calls from on-call team members requiring support relating to serious incidents.

This role will be a challenge and you will need to have resilience and a strong support system backing you. At the same time, this will be some of the most rewarding and fulfilling work you will ever be involved in.
