Job Description - SERVICE MANAGER - NELSON

SERVICE MANAGER - NELSON (Whakatū)

The role of Service Manager typically involves overseeing programs and services for rangatahi/whanau we support within our Nelson service.

Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $96,000.00

Other Benefits: Company Vehicle & Mobile phone.

The responsibilities may include:

Program Development and Implementation:

  • Creating and implementing programs and services that address the needs and interests of the people we support.
  • Developing initiatives related to education, employment, mental health, and social well-being.

Community Engagement:

  • Collaborating with local communities, schools, and organizations to build partnerships and support networks for the people we support.
  • Organizing events and activities that promote community involvement - integration and youth development.

Team Management:

  • Leading and managing a team of professionals involved in delivering our youth or adult support services.
  • Providing guidance, training, and support to staff to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Rostering & Timesheet monitoring & management.

Budgeting and Resource Management:

  • Managing budgets and allocating resources efficiently to meet the needs of our services.
  • Seeking funding opportunities and grants to sustain and expand services.

Advocacy:

  • Representing the organization in discussions with stakeholders and policymakers.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Monitoring the effectiveness of our programs through data collection and evaluation.
  • Making data-driven decisions to improve and enhance services.

Crisis Intervention:

  • Responding to crises affecting youth and implementing strategies for intervention and support.

Networking:

  • Building and maintaining relationships with other organizations, agencies, and individuals involved with the delivery of our services.
  • Staying informed about trends and best practices in the field of youth development.

We want you if you have:

  • Problem solving skills in a challenging work environment.
  • Have high standards, and an ability to motivate staff to also strive to meet the same standards.
  • An understanding of positive behaviour support and Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)
  • Exceptional inter-personal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with people supported, families/whanau and staff.
  • High levels of self-initiative and the ability to work autonomously.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Be able to work within a defined budget.
  • Proficient IT skills, particularly with the Microsoft Office suite.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification (preferred)and at least two years prior management experience within the youth, disability, healthcare, or social service sector.
  • Experience working within Oranga Tamariki services would be an advantage.

The Role:

As Service Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of day-to-day operations, leading a team of support workers working alongside the people we support to live the life that they want, as determined by them. 

Although the position is primarily Monday – Friday, 8.30am – 5.00pm a level of flexibility is required including possible shift cover and on-call duties to maintain responsiveness as new services develop.   

Applicants must have: 

  • Current First Aid Certificate (or be willing to complete one at our cost)
  • Full current NZ Driver License
  • Be eligible to work in New Zealand
