About the Role



Position: Shift Manager


The primary role of a Shift Manager is to oversee the loading and unloading of ships arriving at the port. This is a demanding but rewarding leadership role and pivotal to our organisations success, as the Shift Manager is the frontline leader who drives the operation and who has to ensure safety, quality and productivity are delivered in a demanding work environment. In saying this, the role is extremely rewarding and unique opportunity to put your stamp on the operation. As a Shift Manager, you will be leading a dedicated team of skilled individuals in the handling of everything from logs, timber, bulk products and more. You will be responsible for ensuring the safety of your team and for managing cargo flow through the effective use of our unique cargo management systems and you will be communicating with the vessel crew and other port users.


This is a full-time salaried position and as our Shift Managers do work 12-hour shifts, they are rostered weekly to ensure an adequate work/life balance. However, you will be assigned weekends from time to time and be provided alternate time off during the week and you will share the am / pm shifts as we operate 24/7 when vessels are in port. When we do not have vessels, you are not required to work other than if needed for office related tasks and training.



Location: Napier Port



Status: Full Time - Starting Salary $90k per annum.



Specific Responsibilities

• Ensure strict adherence to our safety protocols
• Conduct regular safety briefings and toolbox meetings
• Foster a culture of safety awareness
• Utilize specialized cargo management systems
• Coordinate with ship captains, port authorities, and logistics partners
• Optimize loading and unloading operations
