The role
The role of the Development Engineer is to support the Development Engineering Manager with all development associated activities.
Here at Selwyn District Council, the Development Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the engineering components of all developments meet the appropriate construction standards. We do this by:
There is no such thing as a typical day in the life of a Council Development Engineer; some days are spent out in the field completing hold-point inspections or meetings, other days will be spent inside approving resource consent applications and engineering plans.
The key responsibility of this role is to ensure that works undertaken, and assets being vested, meet Councils expectations and the relevant legislation.

The Infrastructure & Property Group delivers the core services that rate payers expect. These include roading, water services, parks and reserves, solid waste, emergency management, and the management of property holdings.
The Development Engineering team sits within the Asset Management team and is part of the Infrastructure & Property Group. The Development Engineer will report directly to the Development Engineering Manager.
Selwyn is growing and developing at a rapid pace; therefore, we need skilled people to make it happen - that's why we are growing the Development Engineering team by another two roles!
