Maersk is seeking a dynamic and skilled individual to join our team as an Inventory Lead.

The position will be based at our new and exciting Maersk Coolstore, located strategically at the Ruakura Superhub in land port, this position offers a rare opportunity to support and stand up a new team in a cutting edge environmentally friendly Greenstar rated facility servicing New Zealand’s primary industry sector.

As an Inventory Lead, you will hold the operational team accountable to follow the processes, ensuring that inventory is always accurate, you will also work proactively with operations management and the order management planner on site to ensure effective use of the full site's capacity across product streams, and effective zoning of our product ranges to drive efficiency for our customers.

This role will be responsible for inventory accuracy of product & pallets on site and will execute the strategy to drive and maintain strong performance in these functions. This role also supports the Shift Supervisor positions on site and manages and coordinates activities to work together seamlessly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure current and accurate inventory control and stock reconciliation for each account.
  • Supervise the inventory quality and accuracy assurance programs, including measurement of inventory KPI’s in weekly and monthly reports
  • Hold the operational team accountable for following processes to ensure inventory accuracy
  • Work closely with the Operations Manager, and the Order management planner to ensure efficient use of site capacity
  • Identify root cause analysis of inventory discrepancies
  • Planning and management of annual stock count in accordance with customer requirements and company guidelines; including any proactive/ reactive cycle counts
  • Provide required documentation in support of compliance requirements
  • Provide support to the operational team as well as the customer for inventory related issues.
  • Ensure proper identification and repackaging of damaged product regarding disposal or the return to inventory.
  • Provide leadership support to the team and role model Maersk values
  • Ensure safety standards are maintained for all inventory management processes
  • Manage the Lease pallets portfolio for the site & ensure stock takes are maintained, and accurate instructions are passed to the administration teams for processing
  • Complete site maintenance assurance activities and provide reports, log faults, and work proactively to close the loop on any non conformances across building integrity, security, security seals, housekeeping and pest prevention

We are looking for:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Warehouse/distribution background
  • Previous Inventory Supervision experience in a cold store environment
  • Experience in both internal and external audits
  • Experienced with MPI requirements for Primary Industries
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experience in Warehouse Systems
  • Operational Warehouse Supervision skills
  • Work autonomously under pressure in fast paced environment
  • Communication and relationship building across all levels
  • Ability to lead, motivate and engage team members without direct authority
  • Soft People skills, and a focus on collaboration
  • With basic Employment Law knowledge
  • Strong knowledge of logistics operations, including receiving, warehousing and shipping procedures
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
