There are over 4,000 local parks across the city. Our parks network is diverse and ranges from coastal and beach reserves to neighbourhood parks and bush reserves. Responding to growth is a key focus area to ensure that Council caters for the increased demand on open space.
He angitūtanga: The opportunity
This is not your everyday type of planning job and if you have the passion to make a difference as to how Auckland’s park and open space network are shaped, this position will spark your interest.
We’re seeking a Senior Parks Resource Consents Planner for an exciting opportunity where you will use your resource consents experience to provide specialist input into proposed developments and represent the Parks and Community Facilities (PCF) view of parks, open space, recreation and sport when assessing master plan, resource consent and plan change processes against statutory requirements.
You will be based in Auckland and provide leadership in project managing an area to build strategic relationships by delivering high quality open space outcomes within RMA processes that relate to growth and development and provide a mentoring and coaching role to other team members. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to showcase their leadership in delivering high quality open space outcomes in a complex, fast paced and challenging environment whilst having an exceptional customer focus.
He kōrero mōu: About you
You’ll bring with you an extensive period of planning and resource management experience, to demonstrate your technical leadership skills in order to secure, protect and enhance a unique, accessible and diverse parks and open spaces network. Here you will have proven experience in project management disciplines delivering results and innovation in a high public profile environment where you can also demonstrate your experience in the Reserves Act and the Resource Management Act.
We value our customers and resulting from your customer focus you will have an excellent track record of customer delivery and have a good understanding of Māori responsiveness and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
You will have proven experience supporting the Team Leader to ensure continual development of others in capability and risk minimisation. Here it will also be essential that you have a positive attitude toward problem solving and motivating others.
