At Whakaata Māori, we embrace our role as a waka, driven by our passion to preserve and promote Māori stories, language, and culture. And right now, we are seeking an experienced Transformation Lead to join us on this journey of transformational change.

He kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role

In this fixed-term role, you will navigate our waka through the changing currents and rough waters of transformation. You will be responsible for leading and managing change throughout the organisation, taking us from where we are now to where we need to be in our evolving digital media landscape. You will spearhead and drive the successful implementation of the Tātai Whetū transformation journey within Whakaata Māori. This role is responsible for coordinating and leading the strategic planning, change management, stakeholder engagement, resource coordination, and progress monitoring and reporting aspects of the transformation.

Your role requires you to be a strategic navigator who plans, creates and executes pragmatic and integrated strategies and business solutions that enable successful organisational change initiatives aligned to our outcome’s framework, Te Huapae. You will work collaboratively with other leaders and stakeholders, ensuring our waka has the necessary people, culture, skills, and capabilities to support the delivery of transformation initiatives and sustainable growth.

The successful candidate will have proven leadership experience in change management. You will have a strong commercial acumen and strategic mindset that enables you to deliver change in a cost-effective and efficient manner, an understanding of HR practices and policies and a passion for promoting Māori language and culture through digital media.
