An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced lymphoedema nurse to continue to develop high quality services for people living with lymphoedema across NHS Highland. The post holder will build upon the excellent collaborative work established by the current post holder to deliver expert care . Embedded within the ethos of delivering excellent care for people living with non malignant & malignant lymphoedema will be self management. The post holder will work closely with the network of lymphoedema clinicians & key workers to build upon their current expertise and confidence ensuing people can receive appropriate support locally.
The post holder will provide excellent advanced level person centred care for people living with or at risk of developing lymphoedema. They will work with communities of interested clinicians & third sector organisations, support groups to ensure people have access to the relevant level of support & care to ensure early diagnosis, early interventions and evidence based treatment plans. Imaginative approaches to care will need to be developed to ensure equity of care & services across the Health Board. Close collaboration will be required with other services – tissue viability, dermatology, community clinicians to ensure that there is a joined up approach to the care of this group of people, preventing duplication of effort and agreed management protocols.
You will require excellent communication skills; an advanced level of lymphoedema expertise; ability to deliver self management programmes; a passion for ensuring person centred care; have excellent teaching skills and being an integral member of many multi-professional teams. You will work collaboratively with colleagues both in the hospital & community.
Applicants must have at least one years work experience within the speciality of lymphoedema and preferably have completed Masters modules or be currently working towards them.
Base will depend upon the successful candidates preference. The post holder will have to ensure that they are visible & able to reach out to all the communities in Highland, thus spreading good practice from the ground upwards.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
