One-year Fixed TermNZ Registration and current APC is requiredMo te tunga | About the role This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced registered nurse to support the opening of Building 8b (previously Tupuna). The adult Inpatient Group (AIG) encompasses four acute inpatient units (Te Awakura) and two extended treatment units, Wahi Oranga and the soon to open Building 8b (name to be finalised). This role will be based in Building 8b, a 10 bedded unit, that will support Tangata whaiora who require extended assessment or treatment following an admission to the acute inpatient service prior to discharge. The goals of this multi-disciplinary staffed service are: Provision of a safe and supportive environment to provide extended assessment, treatment and rehabilitation following an admission to the adult acute serviceTeaching skills to help support illness management and to support consumers to live the life they want to liveSupport development of structure and meaningful routinesSupport safe discharge into a community settingKo wai koe | About You In this role, you will be responsible for: Supporting the opening of Building 8b by working closely alongside other key leadership positions. This will include recruitment of staff (nursing, allied health and Kaiawhina workforces), development of relevant policies and procedures and implementing the identified Model of care.Developing and supporting a positive team culture where care is collaborative, inclusive, and multi-disciplinary.Providing day to day clinical and operational leadership, ensuring high quality standards of consumer care.Nga pukenga me nga wheako |Skills and Experience Registered Nurse holding current New Zealand Nursing Council Annual Practising Certificate with appropriate conditions.Experience working within an inpatient mental health setting.Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience including experience in recruitment of staff.A positive, solution focused mindset and experience in supporting change processes.Experience training and supporting the development of staff (including the Kaiawhina workforce)Exceptional communication and relationship building skills across all disciplines and a variety of teams (i.e. community teams / other impatient units)Good knowledge and support for the integration of Tikanga Maori within an inpatient setting.An understanding of the Adult Inpatient Service, the way it integrates with other units and the pressures it currently faces.Mo matou | About Us Specialist Mental Health Services are an interdisciplinary team that forms part of Health NZ | Te Whatu Ora - Canterbury | Waitaha.
