About the role

We have an opportunity for a Diesel Mechanic to join our busy depot team based at Sulphur Point, Tauranga. This is a diverse and challenging role which involves carrying out repairs, services and maintenance on our heavy machinery such as container handlers, trucks, and other vehicles.

This is a full-time position with a guaranteed minimum of 40 hours per week.

Hours of work are 7.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday and 7.00am to 12.00pm Saturday.

Duties:

The purpose of this role is to support Depot Management by ensuring the workshop and machinery fleet runs efficiently and effectively on a daily basis to maximise business continuity.

Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Complete vehicle/machinery repairs, services and maintenance in a timely and cost efficient and safe manner
• Conduct preventative maintenance, servicing and safety checks on all trucking, container handling and plant equipment within the fleet and in accordance with the appropriate schedules.
•Share knowledge and expertise with Apprentices, hoist and truck drivers on mechanical preventions.

To be successful in this role you need:
• Experience with heavy machinery and hydraulics etc
• Ability to understand electrical and hydraulic diagrams (or have some understanding of electrics)
• A New Zealand National Certificate in Automotive Heavy Engineering Level 4 (or equivalent)• A full clean New Zealand Drivers License
• Ability to work well within a team and under pressure
• Strong organisational and time management skills
