Key responsibilities: This position involves duties related to operating excavators but not limited to: Positioning and preparing yard for operations Operating controls to excavate material using grading techniques.  Monitoring operation of yard and adjusting controls to regulate operation, and ensuring safety of other workers Carry out and working from written or verbal instructions. Collecting/delivering scrap material when required Ensure all processing tasks are safely completed to the required standards. Routine daily checks of all plant and equipment related to your task. Use tools and equipment as directed and as per company procedures. Ensure tools and equipment are used safely and are appropriately maintained. Inform your manager or maintenance team if issues are identified. Ensure all health and safety requirements are met. Skills, Knowledge and Experience: one year relevant experience in excavator operating, or relevant qualification equivalent to NZ level Must have driving license equivalent to NZ Class 4 Knowledge of yard safety rules and methods is preferred but not compulsory Physically fit with the ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 20kg) Must be able to pass a drug test and criminal check Location:  The Excavator Operator may be required to work across Canterbury, Southland, Whangarei, Waikato, Auckland, Manawatū-Whanganui, Wellington This role will be a permanent and full-time job. A minimum of 30 hours of work are guaranteed. Minimum & Maximum Pay rate: $29.66-$35 per hour Please note that our commitment to our team's safety on the job means that everyone undergoes a pre-employment drug and alcohol screen.
