This is mahi that will improve the health and wellbeing of everyone in New Zealand - Aotearoa, and we've got an opportunity for you to be part of it…Te whiwhinga mahi| The OpportunityThe mission of the Infrastructure and Investment Group (IIG) is to provide the safe, fit for purpose health facilities, sites and equipment that are essential for a well-functioning health system. The IIG leads investment by understanding and managing these well, ensuring health facilities, sites, and equipment with the highest need of investment are prioritised and standardising the way these are maintained, refurbished or redeveloped.Health infrastructure is a critical enabler of our system and requires substantial Crown investment. Underpinning the $22 billion annual government expenditure on health services, health infrastructure is a critical enabler of equitable, efficient, high-quality services, supporting patient and workforce experience and a major driver of overall system sustainability.The IIG is about to see a step change in health care infrastructure investment, as a result of the need to update and renovate old and outdated hospitals, respond to the demands of a growing and ageing population and in response to Government commitments to significant redevelopments in priority regions.In this context, the primary purpose of the role is to establish a National Delivery Support Office to grow and develop infrastructure project and programme delivery capability including project and programme governance capability and provide intensive support to projects at risk.In this role you will be responsible for leading the transformation of our approach to delivering hospitals and other critical care facilities, developing an operational model to ensure there is appropriate support, coordination and capability to enable Health Infrastructure Projects to be delivered in a consistent, world class way.You will be used to leading transformational change in complex, political environments and have a well developed ability to manage relationships with a wide range of diverse internal and external stakeholders.You will establish a multi-disciplinary team to support major project delivery, and lead the development and implementation of a project delivery framework that enables an efficient, innovative and collaborative approach to construction management across New Zealand.You will be adept at navigating government policy, political expectations, public interest and organisational/project governance to deliver complex projects.You will lead with influence, support world class project delivery, and foster an environment where different voices are heard and considered, thereby enhancing stakeholder buy-in and commitment to the projects.Significant leadership experience in delivering organisational or system transformation projects across large and complex organisations – preferrable in the health contextKnowledge of infrastructure delivery and the critical skills and attributes of successful project deliveryKnowledge of the New Zealand Health Sector and/or Health DesignProven experience establishing processes for identifying, managing and monitoring complex risks to project outcomes in particular safety management and designKnowledge of client-side construction project delivery frameworks, tools, procedures, systems and guidance and an ability to promote and provide advice on the use of appropriate techniques, methodologies and toolsA commitment to being a good Te Tiriti partner in all your actions.
