The Role With an impending new arrival due for our current HR Manager - Westland & Subsidiaries, we have a great opportunity based in Westland's corporate office (Christchurch-Hornby) for an experienced HR practitioner to provide dedicated leadership to a team of 4 (3 HRBP's and 1 HR/OD Coordinator) in a 12-month parental leave cover capacity. Reporting to the Group GM People & Culture, the role will quickly develop a deep understanding of the business and will enhance the development of a culture of engagement and empowerment throughout Westland Milk (Christchurch & Hokitika) and its 3 subsidiaries and will work closely with Oceania Dairy to achieve further HR related synergies across the group. The role will provide advice and guidance on a wide range of HR/People issues, ensuring that HR is viewed as a valued and trusted advisor within the business. More specifically, the HR Manager will:- Contribute to and implement people strategy, policies and frameworks which are aligned with Westland and the Group's strategic business goals Contribute to and ensure the high performance of the HR team, providing motivational leadership, guidance and development to the team Be the trusted advisor and coach of GM's, Managers and Supervisors within your portfolio on people issues Provide robust technical Human Resources, Employment Relations and Industrial Relations advice to the organisation Ensure that a positive and engaged company culture is continually enhanced Provide coaching and support on all HR systems, policies, processes and management practices Assist with and take the lead on change management, remuneration and organisation development projects as required Assist with overseeing the performance appraisal process across the organisation Assist with the development and implementation of group synergy projects as required The Ideal Candidate:- The ideal candidate will be an experienced, tertiary qualified, generalist HR Manager with well-developed Employee Relations experience, and able to demonstrate proven success at empowering managers and building the capability of HR 'across and down' throughout a business. Well versed in performance management principles and robust HR frameworks and with a proven history of coaching for performance, applicants will also ideally possess the ability to contribute to OD and change management initiatives. Superior coaching, leadership and influencing skills are essential and exceptional relationship building abilities are non-negotiable.  More specifically, candidates will ideally possess:- Proven experience in a generalist HR management role delivering advice to all levels of a business Sound working knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation, trends and practices Experience with a variety of HR applications including candidate management systems, remuneration review systems and performance appraisal systems Exceptional relationship management and influencing ability coupled with well-developed written and verbal communication skills An adaptable approach and the ability to navigate through and lead change Experience of working within a large complex organisation and ideally in a manufacturing/production-based (& preferably unionised) environment It's an exciting time in Westland's and our wider Group's evolution and the opportunity to be involved in so many areas provides a great opportunity for an experienced HR leader with high energy and charisma to continue your own journey whilst gaining the satisfaction that you're playing an important part in ours!
