Clinical educational leadership role within the Professional Development Unit0.4 FTE part-timepositionRegistered with the NZNursing Council and current APCMo te tunga | About the roleWe arelooking for an experienced Nurse Educator to join our team at the ProfessionalDevelopment Unit (PDU). Reporting to the PDU Nurse Manager your role will be toprovide efficient coordination and administration support to the PDU team. TheProfessional Development Unit provides a range of educational opportunitiesaimed towards the Nursing, Midwifery, and Hospital Aide workforce at Te WhatuOra Waitaha.Yourwarm, friendly approach and excellent interpersonal skills will shine through,as will your organisational skills and ability to be discreet with theinformation you work with. You will interact with a range of people so yourability to be sensitive to diversity and cultural needs will be highly valuedin this environment. As PDU Nurse Educator, you will play a pivotal role indelivering Continuing Nursing Education and Professional Development activitiesto enhance the practice of our nursing staff.Ourideal applicant will be a technologically savvy person who has confidence onthe computer, ideally with an advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, and Teams. Weare looking for an all-round team player who can work autonomously and able totake initiative. In this role, you will be required to manage multiplepriorities and distractions.Thisposition is 20 hours per week (0.4 FTE) Monday to Friday.Responsibilities include:Facilitate nursing training and education activities according toprescribed standards and adult learning principles.Assist in the orientation and preceptorship of new/resuming nursingstaff, ensuring adherence to competency-based approaches and bestpractices.Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of educativeinitiatives to ensure compliance with relevant policies and legislativerequirements.Demonstrate commitment to personal and professional development,attending relevant education programs and staying updated on nursingtrends.Promote the PDU in a positive and accurate manner to the public,consumers and other staff members.Observe all Te Whatu Ora (Health NZ) safe work procedures andinstructions.This role requires the following:Holda current annual practising certificate from Nursing Council of NZHaverecent broad-based experience in acute care nursing within a tertiaryhealthcare environment.Usefindings from nursing research as the basis for practice.Havedemonstrated clinical teaching abilities. Ideally holds a Certificate of Adult Teaching or graduate qualificationin Adult Education (or equivalent) or is working towards this.Haveevidence of continuing nursing education and professional developmentcommensurate with the role.Haveexcellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate across alloccupational groups in health.Ableto work under pressure to fulfil urgent requests within tight time-frames.Workingknowledge of computer systems, good word-processing and keyboard skills.Abilityto work autonomously and effectively within a small team.Self-motivatedand an ability to contribute to and accommodate change.Arelevant postgraduate qualification in nursing or working towards oneDemonstratea commitment to developing an understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi, Maoriand other cultural issues as related to the PDU.Demonstratea professional attitude including self and team careCPR Instructors CertificatePDRP assessor/resource personTe Poari Hauora o Waitaha (Canterbury District Health Board) is considered a world leader in its people centred approach to health care.
