As well as having an established inpatient unit, we support a large community team. These services are funded through Te Whatu Ora contracts, fundraising and income from our second-hand retail stores. Job Description ABOUT THE JOB Bring your passion for helping others by joining the Waipuna Hospice team in a challenging and yet very rewarding environment . We welcome Nurse Practitioners who wish to develop in the specialist palliative care area . This role is 0.6 FTE (56 hours per fortnight) to 1 FTE (80 hours per fortnight) dependent on the successful applicants requirements. As a Nurse Practitioner you will be a valued member of our interdisciplinary team (IDT) and using your advanced clinical skills, will contribute to Hospice clinical, educational and service development activities. This role involves assessment, diagnoses and management of patients with palliative care needs including the prescription of medications. Y ou will interact with a wide range of health professionals, and using your advanced interpersonal skills will build relationships, which will assist your work as part of an interdisciplinary team. Desired Skills and Experience ABOUT YOU Our successful applicant will have: Previous nursing experience in palliative care (but not essential) Registration as a Nurse Practitioner with Nursing Council A current practicing certificate (Nursing Council of NZ) Demonstrated ability to articulate nursing advice within an IDT Experience working with patients from diverse cultural backgrounds Advanced practice competencies in both an autonomous and collaborative manner, taking a leadership role as appropriate Current experience in New Zealand and be legally entitled to work in New Zealand.
