Nursing - General Medical & Surgical (Healthcare & Medical) A unique and exciting opportunity exists with New Zealand Air Ambulance Service in Whangarei. NZAAS is seeking applications for a suitably skilled and qualified nurse, this role could suit someone seeking either part time or casual employment. NZAAS nurses work as part of an integrated aeromedical crew across a variety of transport platforms both within New Zealand and worldwide. This role is primarily transporting patients in our dedicated PTS road ambulance based in Whangarei. Key Responsibilities: NZAAS Nurses are responsible for the nursing and clinical management of patients being transported by Ground Ambulance. Responsibilities include clinical assessment, planning patient care, clinical care of patients from acceptance of care at the referral point to relinquishment of care at receiving unit. NZAAS nurses work autonomously and as part of a larger retrieval team for complex critical care patients. The ambulance becomes an extension of an emergency department, intensive care or any other specialty unit. Nurses are responsible for checking and maintaining medical equipment to ensure that all equipment devices are mission ready always. To be considered for this role it is essential that you meet the following criteria: A current practicing certificate with the Nursing Council of New Zealand, with evidence of meeting continuing competence requirements Minimum 5 years' post grad nursing experience, at least 2 years of which are in an acute care environment e.g. intensive care, anaesthesia/recovery or emergency medicine Current ALS/PALS certification – Core Advanced Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a range of internal and external stake holders.
