Full Time, Fixed-term maternity leave cover (12 months from June 2024)

Remuneration as per PSA Allied Health MECA guidelines (Pre-Specialist appointment DA2 to DB2; Specialist appointment DB3 to DD2)

The Specialist Clinical Pharmacist in Respiratory is a designated role that contributes to the quality of care and reducing health inequities for patients under the care of Respiratory.

This role will cover the inpatient Respiratory team alongside some General Medicine and will also be responsible for the professional development of rotational pharmacists training in this area of specialty.


We are looking for a capable clinical pharmacist with the relevant experience to continue to drive our expertise and service in Respiratory.

Alternatively, this is a rare opportunity for an experienced clinical pharmacist with a special interest in Respiratory to step up in a designated, clinical leadership role.


We are looking for a pharmacist who is/has :

  • New Zealand Registered Pharmacist with current APC or eligibility to obtain one
  • For specialist appointment: at least 5 years of hospital experience overall, and at least 23 years of experience in Respiratory
  • For prespecialist appointment, at least 3 years of hospital experience overall and some previous experience in Respiratory
  • Relevant postgraduate qualifications and/or credentialing
- at minimum, Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or qualification in Respiratory speciality; Pharmacist Prescriber

  • Patientfocused, enthusiastic and able to lead self, people and teams
  • Effective communicator and able to contribute positively within an MDT environment
  • Demonstrated excellent clinical leadership capability with a keen interest and experience in quality improvement and service development
  • Passionate about sharing knowledge and able to teach and train other pharmacy staff and students, other health professionals
  • Able to work flexible hours (including participating in our oncall and weekend rosters)
