Job Description - 0.2 Fte Continuing French Teacher Coordinator

School District #8 (Kootenay Lake) is located in the southern Interior of British Columbia, Canada and serves the Lower Kootenay Band and the communities of Kaslo, Meadow Creek, Crawford Bay, Creston, Wynndel, Yahk, Nelson, Salmo, South Slocan, Winlaw, Slocan, and the surrounding rural areas. Our schools are dispersed geographically and range in size and composition:-13 elementary schools-1 middle school-1 K-10 school-4 secondary schools-2 K-12 schools-online learning and blended programs-an extensive array of program options, including Aboriginal Education, Late French Immersion, Outdoor Programs, and a strong International Program.The annual pay range for a full time teacher is $61,522 to $108,126, with placement on the range based on experience and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.School District #8 (Kootenay Lake) is looking for a 0.2 FTE Continuing French Teacher Coordinator. The French Teacher Coordinator is a member of the Innovative Learning Team in a Position of Special Responsibility working under the direction of the Director of Instruction, Innovative Learning or designate. This role is vital in overseeing the French language program, providing support to French language teachers, and ensuring high-quality instruction aligned with British Columbia's educational standards. This position requires an enthusiastic, energetic, experienced and dedicated educator. This assignment is a school-based position with responsibilities to schools and staff throughout the district.Specific Duties and Responsibilities:•Assisting the Director of Instruction in facilitating French Advisory Committee (FAC) meetings and French school plan development.•Facilitate Parent Engagement events for French Immersion.•Develop and implement an effective French language curriculum.•Provide leadership and mentorship to French language teachers.•Support Core French at district elementary schools.•Manage resources and ensure the availability of teaching materials.•Foster and inclusive learning environment and engage with students and parents.•Maintain program records and participate in school-wide events.•Coaching, mentoring, demonstrating, consulting and otherwise assisting classroom teachers and schools in all aspects of French language instruction.•Maintaining current knowledge with respect to best instructional practices, research in French language education, and instructional resources and making this information available to teachers and schools.•Providing and/or coordinating professional learning opportunities French language (professional development days).•Performing other related duties as assigned by the Director of Instruction or designate.Competencies:•Highly collaborative•Excellent communication skills•Inquiry mindset•Independent and initiative driven•High-level integrity•Problem solving skillsSchedule:To be determined.Due to district travel, presentations, meetings, and work commitments, schedule adjustments will arise and will be determined by the Director of Instruction or designate.
