The Centre also provides pathway programmes to further study.We are a member of English New Zealand and are proud to offer quality programmes with some of the best English language teachers in the country.The role/Te mahiAs an Academic Coordinator & English Language Centre Teacher, you will be committed to excellence in teaching and learning. You will also:• Take the lead in the development, delivery, support and review of academic courses and curriculum.• Engage with and/or develop teaching and learning strategies that are of relevance to and support the University of Otago's Frameworks and strategic direction.• Coordinate the day-to-day operation of the English Language Centre, working with the Deputy Academic Coordinator.• Have overall responsibility for English Language Centre timetabling, staffing and daily relief.• Maintain a quality learning environment for English Language Centre students.• Support the English Language Centre Director in the leadership and management of English Language Centre programmes.• Provide advice to teachers on professional standards.• Teach classes as required.You will meet the English New Zealand acceptable profile of an academic manager/director of studies this includes:• An initial TESOL qualification (e.g. CELTA).• Either a Diploma in Second Language Teaching or ESOL (e.g. DELTA), Diploma in Language Teacher Management(e.g. IDLTM), or a degree specifically in language teaching.• Suitable English language teaching experience.• Prior teaching experience, and experience supporting/mentoring teaching colleagues.This is a full-time (1 FTE), permanent position based in Dunedin.The appointment range for this position is $70,692 to $96,750 per annum.
