South Wairarapa District Council (SWDC) is a small council supporting the people of Martinborough, Featherston, Greytown and the surrounding district.

The Corporate Services Group’s primary purpose is to provide enabling functions to the organisation and its service users.

The role is integral to that. 

The Accountant role reports into the Chief Financial Officer. 

You will be an experienced Accountant who will have good understanding of the Public Sector environment and a demonstrated understanding of local government processes, decision-making and operating procedures.

Every day is different; however, you will bring a fantastic attention to detail to the team and be expected to undertake tasks such as:

• Financial Accounting - month end/year end processes
• Analysis of Financial Information to identify opportunities, challenges or new initiatives.
• Budgeting/Rolling forecasts.
• Tax/Regulatory processes.
• Ad hoc financial project work

Furthermore, you will have the ability to identify and appropriately manage risk, quickly establish and build strong working relationships, including with senior managers, have flexibility to adapt within a fast moving environment and possess excellent communication skills.
