Job Description - Advocacy Manager

About the role



Christians Against Poverty (CAP) is seeking an experienced Advocacy Manager to lead CAPs newly created Advocacy Team during a pivotal season of growth and transformation as we launch our refreshed services. This is a strategic leadership opportunity to shape the direction of the team, foster collaboration, ensure accountability, and promote continuous learning, all with the goal of strengthening positive outcomes for our clients.



In this role, you will oversee all aspects of the Advocacy Team’s operations, ensuring that advocacy recommendations are implemented with excellence. You will play a key role in maximising outcomes for clients impacted by irresponsible lending, driving meaningful change and advancing CAP’s commitment to serving people living in money chaos.



Key areas of responsibility include:




  • Monitor and facilitate the service delivery outputs of the Advocacy Team

  • Identify insights and trends pertaining to the Advocacy Team and its functions

  • Ensure healthy collaboration across the Advocacy Team and relevant stakeholders

  • Lead the Advocacy Team to deliver CAP’s Vision, Values & Impact while growing in Client Services Competencies

  • Develop and maintain key strategic relationships to enable better client outcomes

You’ll also bring relevant experience for the role:




  • 2+ years proven experience in a similar role

  • 2+ years proven experience working in a client-centered service delivery and/or with community-based social issues

  • Proven experience as a certified Financial Mentor and Supervisor

  • Familiarity with financial institutions, systems and practices in Aotearoa

  • Proven ability to lead a team, to increased purpose and work delivery, and through change initiatives

  • Strong coaching skills, excellent relationship building and people skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively across a range of different stakeholders

  • Ability to bring fresh ideas and new thinking, with a proven track record of identifying and developing opportunities for improvement and innovation

  • Strong growth, developmental and learning mindset, and mode of practice

  • Strong time management with a capacity for large workloads, and an attitude of completion

  • Strong skills in working collaboratively to maximise service delivery effectiveness and client experience outcomes
