Advocates (4 roles available) - Urgent Position

Are you passionate about the wellbeing and safety of wāhine, Tamariki and whānau?

Te Whare Aio and Te Whare o Ngā Tūmanako Māori Women's Refuges have combined ‘forces’ and are looking for dynamic, motivated and experienced individuals to join this amazing team working across Tamaki Makaurau – Auckland.

In this role you are provided with Refuge frameworks to work collaboratively with community services and agencies to achieve the best outcomes for our tangata whaiora.

The right person understands the dynamics dealing with whānau transforming from whānau violence, along with the knowledge of long and short term effects violence and abuse has on our whānau.

That right person will have:

• Experience working with vulnerable whānau experiencing Family and Domestic Violence
• A social worker qualification or experience in a social service agency working with vulnerable whānau is highly sought after, new social workers also highly sought after
• Understanding of Tikanga  and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi Principles
• Clear professional boundaries and a non-judgmental manner
• Be highly motivated, positive, solution focused and a team player are a must
• Flexible attitude and 'can do' approach
• High level of self-awareness
• Ability to multi-task and deal with competing priorities
• Ability to work in a fluid and sometimes stressful environment
• Applicants for this position must have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa

You will have excellent communication, listening and computer skills. Clean, full driver’s licence and positive police vetting results under the Vulnerable Children's Act are also requirements.

These roles are full time permanent, between the hours of Monday to Friday 8am - 6pm, with remuneration according to the individuals experience.  Based in Penrose, working around the Tamaki Makaurau - Auckland region.    We have a fantastic induction and training programme for the first three months of employment.
