Job Description - Āheinga Pūtea Kaitohutohu

About the Role



30 hours per week | Fixed Term until 30 June 2027
Ōtautahi & Waimakariri District



Te Puawaitanga Ki Ōtautahi Trust is a kaupapa Māori provider delivering a range of health, education and social services that promote the wellbeing and mana of Māori whānau. Our mahi is grounded in whānau ora, strengths‑based practice, and kaupapa Māori values.


We are seeking a Building Financial Capability (BFC) Kaitohutohu to join our team and support whānau to build financial capability, resilience, and long‑term wellbeing.



This role delivers services across Ōtautahi and the Waimakariri District. You will work alongside whānau and whaiora experiencing financial hardship or seeking to improve their financial wellbeing, supporting them to make informed decisions and sustainable change.



Key components of the role include:



  • Providing one‑to‑one financial mentoring as a core in‑house service

  • Facilitating MoneyMates group‑based sessions in community settings such as kura, libraries, and partner organisations

  • Supporting whānau through strengths‑based financial planning aligned with a whānau ora approach

  • Enabling whānau and whaiora to strengthen their financial capability, confidence, and become more financially capable and make long-term change



What you’ll bring



  • Experience working with whānau and communities, preferably in financial mentoring, budgeting, social services, or community development

  • An understanding of kaupapa Māori, whānau ora, and mana‑enhancing practice

  • Strong facilitation skills and confidence delivering group‑based learning

  • The ability to build trusted relationships and work alongside whānau with empathy and professionalism

  • Good organisational and reporting skills, with the ability to meet contract requirements

  • A full New Zealand driver licence and willingness to travel across Ōtautahi and the Waimakariri District
