We are looking for a team of experienced Mental Health and AOD Practitioners who are looking for a career opportunity that is challenging and exciting.

 

About the role 

These roles will involve working within our drug treatment programmes providing facilitation and one-on-one support to women who are currently incarcerated in Auckland Women's Prison.

These practitioners will provide expert knowledge and skills in mental health and addiction interventions and will work with a strengths-based approach to facilitate skills and knowledge within the programme, as well as provide comprehensive assessments, individual interventions and referral services.

 

We are looking for a person who -

  • have an commitment to respecting the rights and supporting those with mental distress and who struggle with addiction

We will also seek to employ a Team Leader who is able to manage a dynamic team while allowing them to take the lead when appropriate, and will remain professional at all times

 

To be considered for this role it is essential you - 

  • have a degree in any of the health professions under the HPCA Act; in Social Work;  or Counselling
  • be a registered health professional with a relevant organisation, preferably DAPAANZ, and have a current practicing certificate
  • have obtained NZ police vetting clearance
  • be eligible to work in New Zealand
  • have proven mental health or addictions experience and skills in therapeutic approaches and interventions appropriate to manage and treat mild to moderate mental health or addiction issues 
  • are able to demonstrate knowledge and ability to undertake a comprehensive mental health and/or addictions assessment and appropriate brief interventions

and preferable you

  • have facilitation experience and skills in therapeutic and psycho-educational groups
  • have the ability to support and develop the mental health interventions within the programme
  • understand and effectively use Māori health models (e.g. Te Whare Tapa Wha) in treatment
  • have experience in working with people with addiction issues and/or have some addiction-specific training
  • display excellent cultural competency and specific knowledge of models and frameworks specific to Māori and Pasifika participants
  • have experience as a Practice or Team Leader
