What This Role Is About


 


As a key member of the City Mission AOD Team, the AOD Practitioner - Hapori Ora will make a vital contribution to the Mission, to our clients and to our community. The key focus of the role is to provide group facilitation and co-facilitation alongside screening, AOD brief assessment and treatment planning for group clients.  The position will also provide brief intervention demonstrating understanding of addiction, mental health problems and promoting holistic wellness.



This is a permanent, full-time position, 40 hrs per week.  Monday - Friday between 8am and 5pm, however you will be required to work one late night per week and 3 hrs on a Saturday once a month. 



 


About You - What You Bring


 


We are seeking someone with the following skills and experience:




  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, Social Work, Alcohol and Drug or equivalent combination of qualification and experience required to be qualified to carry out Alcohol and Drug assessment and develop treatment plans

  • Experience working alongside and supporting people who are on a journey of growth and change in their life

  • Experience working alongside people with high and complex needs

  • Experience in working alongside people with mental health issues, substance misuse and trauma

  • The ability and desire to show cultural sensitivity, awareness and understanding of marginalisation and diversity

  • Initiative and passion for problem solving and continuous improvement

  • Full driver’s licence

  • Demonstrate a high level of conflict resolution and crisis management

  • Have the ability to work largely unsupervised and to be self-motivated however also have the ability to also work effectively as part of a co-operative and mutually supportive team

  • Alignment with the ethics and values of the Christchurch City Mission, and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
